Challenges in K-12 Catholic Education: An IOCF Collaboration with Catholic Studies
Presented by Dr. Emily Dahdah, Associate Director of Catholic Education for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis
June 15-July 23 – Online
This course aims to help students understand the challenges PreK-12 Catholic schools face with respect to their mission and culture. Students will be exposed to the philosophical and theological foundations upon which Catholic schools have been built, the changes within church and society that have affected Catholic PreK-12 education, and the future of Catholic PreK-12 education. Discussions and assignments will focus on creative solutions to mission and culture challenges facing Catholic schools today.
June 23-25, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – In-person classes at the University of St. Thomas (tentative).
Please plan for the potential to have “live” synchronous meetings, starting with a two-hour group class in the morning, followed by small group and individual time with the professor in the afternoon. Details are still being finalized due to changes with COVID-19 concerns. The remainder of this course is completely online and asynchronous.
