Experience Healing in Communion with the Living God
Presented by Father Jon Vander Ploeg
Jesus said, “Come to me all you who are burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
There is much suffering we encounter in our own lives and in those we serve. Often it can get overwhelming. We can also be reticent to pray boldly for healing because we attribute it too much to ourselves. In fact, healing can be around a few basic things like forgiveness of self and others, overcoming a sense of unworthiness and self-condemnation, and inviting the Lord Jesus Christ into every situation.
Father John Vander Ploeg, assistant director of spiritual formation at The Saint Paul Seminary, will discuss what healing actually is, what it is not, pitfalls and dangers in this ministry and how to very naturally (without looking weird) bring it into the midst of our lives and ministry. We are called to find communion with the Lord amid suffering in our lives and helping those we serve to let the Lord into the pain in their lives. The fruit of this is that we are not alone. Isolation can be the most painful and demonic element of suffering that can be a ground to fester self-pity, self-condemnation, feeling of being rejected. Inviting the Lord to be with us in the midst of suffering can allow him to bear fruit in all things in our lives including past and present pain.
