Archbishop Ireland Memorial Library Lecture
Listening Up: Music and Cosmos in Plato’s Timaeus
The Timaeus is historically Plato’s most influential dialogue. It is also amongst his most perplexing. This lecture will examine what the work teaches about the relationship between cosmology and the way we think about our souls–and how we might take seriously the dialogue’s claim that music is the source of both world and soul.
Dr. William Stevenson, associate professor of Dogmatic Theology at The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity, will present.
