Events for Newly and Recently Ordained

Evening gatherings

Priests who have been ordained for three years gather three times during the academic year at The Saint Paul Seminary for prayer, fraternity and directed discussions on topics relevant to the transition to priestly life. The opportunities offered for newly ordained and experienced clergy are an investment in a pastor, his parish, its parishioners and the broader Church.

For newly ordained

  • Transition to public life/being a public person
  • The parochial vicar/pastor relationship
  • Transition to presbyterate

For recently ordained

  • Managing boundaries
  • The priest and marriage preparation
  • The priest as confessor: minister of healing

Annual Priestly Growth Retreat

Recently ordained gather with the Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and mentor priests for a three-day gathering that includes prayer, fraternity and discussion of topics concerning their experience of priestly life. Each priest has one-on-one time with the archbishop.
