How to Apply

Let's get started.

Below are the recommended timelines to prepare for testing and to request delivery of transcripts and letters of recommendation. These timelines allow for application review by the Admissions Committee, as well as consideration for financial aid. We operate on a rolling admissions calendar, allowing us to review applications as they are completed. If you are not sure you can complete the process in time for the beginning of a term, please contact gradtheology@stthomas.edu.

  • Inquire online about various degree programs.
  • Request information about the degree programs that interests you.
  • Speak with an Admissions Counselor.
  • Take TOEFEL or alternate English proficiency exam (International applicants).
  • Meet with Admissions Counselor, visit campus, attend a class or information session.
  • Connect with Degree Program Director.
  • Register for the GRE or Miller Analogies Test (this requirement is temporarily waived)
  • Solicit letters of recommendation.
  • Request official undergraduate and graduate transcript.

The admissions process

The Admissions Committee thoroughly reviews every application to understand the strengths, skills and unique potential of prospective students. A sound academic record, including undergraduate history and test scores, is important. In addition to your academics, the committee carefully considers your personal statement and letters of recommendation looking for evidence of writing skills, service to the community, and commitment to the special mission of The Saint Paul and the program goals to which you are applying. All information submitted as part of the application process will be examined. It is the intention of the committee to ensure that The Saint Paul Seminary is a good fit for you and that you are prepared to be successful in pursuing a graduate degree with us.

To be granted admission, applicants must meet the requirements of the degree program for which they are applying and complete the application process.

Students must complete their application files prior to any consideration for scholarship and financial aid opportunities.
